John Eklund, author of The Third Testament John Eklund is a practicing Catholic who took to writing Christian fiction on a whim and found he loved every minute of it. He resides in the Chicago suburbs with his wife Jennifer, daughters Addison and Ellery, and two dogs, Greta and Isabel. This is his first novel.
Although The Third Testament is a work of fiction, most of the places mentioned in the book are real, and have been part of the author's life experience.
Long Grove, Illinois is as charming a town as you'll ever see in the Midwest. It is especially beautiful in early May when the tulips are in bloom.
Riverside is also charming, with its winding streets and gas lanterns. The library there overlooks the Des Plaines River, and is a wonderful place to sit and read.
The Peabody Estate in Oak Brook does indeed house a replica of Saint Francis of Assisi's Portiuncula Chapel. The chapel holds a special place in the author's heart.
LaSalle Canyon at Starved Rock State Park in Utica, Illinois is the author's favorite place to hike. The waterfall there is magnificent in spring.
Patti's Restaurant in Grand Rivers, Kentucky does have the best pork chops on earth.
The oncology nurses at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago are truly angels, as are most of the oncology nurses the author has known.
